Abstract

In the fictional account of Kelly Stark and her family that builds in the pages of Solar Empire 2100+  Barsoom Station is a visionary deep-space research outpost situated at the Venus L2 Lagrange point between 2069 and 2090. Unlike traditional military sci-fi settings, this installation operates as a distributed academic campusmodeled after Antarctica’s McMurdo Station, prioritizing intellectual collaboration over command hierarchies. The station’s revolutionary operational model supports a small physical crew of 200 supplemented by over 600 virtual researchers from Earth using advanced telepresence technology. Physical and digital minds interact within immersive visualization halls, which use sophisticated display sheets to allow scientists to literally walk through complex data. Constructed incrementally using lunar-launched modules, the station serves as a specialized observatory dedicated to investigating ancient structures discovered in the Oort Cloud. Ultimately, the text presents a technologically grounded vision of future space exploration defined by modular engineering and a global, collective pursuit of scientific truth.
